Run-on sentences FTW
The Handmaid’s Tale, by Margaret Atwood - I read half of this on my non-driving time up to Portland, and finished it during some down time last night. It was excellent. A little creepy to the extreme and feminist, to be sure, but it was definitely one of those books you can’t put down (IT’S FUCKING AWESOME). When I described the plot line to Mel (futuristic society run by a...
Found this text in my little sister’s (Bear, she’s in 4th grade) outbox to some poor guy named Kevin Tu:
“I’m sorry about the fight to.I should have never slapped you in the face”
She’s so awesome.

Failure
I have tried and tried but I simply can’t finish reading Hopscotch by Julio Cortazar. I’ll do a couple chapters (there are 155) and start reading something else. Has anyone been able to get through this? Has anyone loved this? I know there are multiple endings available, but I can’t get into the plot enough to even care an iota. Should I just try reading the chapters out of...
Lost Camera Fun →

This is pretty cool. There are photos a guy always leaves on his camera, incase it gets lost. Pretty funny.
I laughed my ass off!! This is genius
Went to the Getty museum today
Kayla, my friend since my 1st grade Arizona days (!!) is in town (well, Ventura, close enough), so I met up with her today for brunch at Urth Caffe in Santa Monica. Then we headed to the Getty to peep some art and I took a few shitty iPhone pics…

MAIL GOGGLES: Google strives to make the world’s information useful. Mail you send late night on the weekends may be useful but you may regret it the next morning. Solve some simple math problems and you’re good to go. Otherwise, get a good night’s sleep and try again in the morning. – Amazing passage from The Hours by Michael Cunningham, which I just finished rereading after by chance finding it in the back of a cabinet in our study room. Interestingly enough, Webster’s does not recognize savantism as a word! Neither does Safari.

Spent the day at Borders reading..
..and finished We the Living, by Ayn Rand (I’d read the first half of it about a month ago in New Orleans, and set out to finish it today, though I expect I will end up buying it). 10 out of 10, as usual; I would never expect anything less from Ayn Rand. We the Living was heartbreaking and painful to read, as the book’s plot, like all of Rand’s writing, involves an individual or...
A Confederacy of Dunces
I just finished reading A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, soooo:
Fucking awesome. Hilarious. Toole possibly has the best descriptive powers I have come across thus far in literature. The novel is also thought to be the best depiction of New Orleans at that time period.
The original manuscript of this novel is at my very own Tulane University!
Toole was a cartoonist for the Tulane...

Today Alfred and I headed up to the city of smog to check out a museum we’ve both been wanting to go to, Museum of Tolerance. MOT is “a human rights laboratory and educational center dedicated to challenging visitors to understand the Holocaust in both historic and contemporary contexts and confront all forms of prejudice and discrimination in our world today. ” It was sombering,...
